Installed UltiMAK M1-B mount with forend removed to show clamps. Also shows use of shims on Romanian 5.45 and 5.56 barrels. The mount is locked onto the barrel with two 4140 steel clamps. It aligns with the barrel, so the Picatinny style rail is always parallel to it. This makes zeroing a cinch, and the fact that the optic is attached firmly and directly to the barrel makes for the most stable AK mount in the world. Notice also that it sits a lot lower than any other AK mount, plus it cannot interfere with field stripping of the weapon, or with case ejection.
