Springfield M1A Standard, M8
The Springfield M1A Standard is relatively light for its capabilities, easy to maintain, and thoroughly reliable. This example will shoot Black Hills 168 grain HP loads with much better than standard accuracy. The author took the rifle, equipped with the UltiMAK M8 forward optic mount and this Trijicon TX30 Tripower reflex sight on a miles-long hike through the North Idaho mountains. The TX30's diode power was never used on that sojourn-- It is completely unnecessary in daylight, whether in direct sunlight or in dappled forest light because the fiber-optic system is more than adequate for displaying a nice, bright red chevron reticle. The TLR-1 weapon light on the GG-1131 offset light mount, along with the TX30's diode or tritium reticle illumination, make for a 24-hour system that is easy to configure and easy to use.
