This is the latest military model, designated SU-231/PEQ. It is ideally suited to AR-15 / M4 flat top receiver rails and rail forends. Compatible with night vision devices (NVDs) Gen. 1 - 4. Night vision brightness range: 1,000:1. An extra 7 millimeters of height places the AR iron sight axis in a low co witnessing position that causes minimal interference with the holographic sight picture. The 553 uses two CR123 lithium power cells, allowing cross application with other electronic gear including the Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light and TLR-2 light/laser module. The 553's open holographic reticle pattern is designed to be instantly visible in any lighting conditions. Instinctive to center regardless of the shooting angle, it stays in view when sweeping an engagement zone or when engaging moving targets. The standard 65 minute of angle ring has four alignment ticks and a 1 M.O.A. aiming dot.

The HWS delivers an impressive ten million to one (10,000,000:1) bright to low reticle contrast ratio, ensuring that the reticle is always visible. The reticle can be easily seen against targets in full sunlight - even in desert or tundra environments, and in moonlight.

No cross bolt or Allen wrench to loose-- just take the unit out of the box, install the battery, place it directly on the weapon's rail, flip the tightening levers into lockup, turn it on, and its ready for zeroing.

This sight is ideal on a flat top AR-10 / AR-15 / M-16 / M-4.
